Herbal supplements are widely used as a common addition to treat a disorder, a disease or improving quality of life. Herbal supplements made of natural products are very effective and have reduced costs; they have similar effects as pharmaceutical medications and may interact in positive or negative way with them. Always ask your health consultant if you have any doubts. Supplements are beneficial for health problems, but only when they are used appropriately.

A common natural remedy includes herbal supplements. People in our society have so many daily activities on their list which end up giving them a lot of stress. They now experience unnatural sleeping patterns. There are so many pressures in our lives whether it is family complications, children or paying bills that only adds stress to drop our sleeping schedules. So it's natural on our parts to head to sleeping aids.
Melatonin is an herbal supplement which is found in various living organism including animals and plants. Human beings naturally construct this hormone and it helps in our sleep cycle. During day time, less melatonin is found in our bodies. It lowers the body temperature and helps us in falling asleep. Melatonin is basically used as an aid for various sleeping problems.

Another herbal supplement is tryptophan. It is actually an amino acid. From this chemical the body produces serotonins which makes people relaxed and happy. Serotonins cause a person to sleep. Since all these chemicals i.e. melatonin, tryptophan, serotonins are naturally found in human beings, their proper use is important. More intake of melatonin can prevent pregnancy, but it should not be considered as a contraceptive.
More intakes of these chemicals may lead to daytime lethargy. These chemicals can also interact with medicine drugs mainly blood thinners and antidepressants. Consult your health provider before taking herbal supplements if you are taking it along with any medication.
Another health supplement which is used is chamomile. It is mainly served as tea. Its consumption does not cause any addiction. Some facts proved that too much chamomile leads to vomiting. It can also interact with blood thinners so its use should be made cautiously.
Herbal supplements would continue to aid our problems enhancing our lives. However, it is important to understand various reactions of herbs with our body. If you have any doubt related to their use ask your health provider to make the best possible use of it.
